And a sign for them is the dead land, that We quickened and brought forth from it grain, whereof they eat; 33 And We make therein gardens of palms and grapevines and We make springs to flow forth in it, 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 All glory belongs to the One Who has created pairs out of what grow from the earth, out of their soul and out of that which they do not know. 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night surpass the day; and each one of them floats in its orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We lodged them in a laden ship, while they were in their forefathers backs. 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 unless it be by an act of mercy from Us and a grant of life for a [further span of] time. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 They are only waiting for a single blast that will seize them, but they will go on contending. 49 Therefore neither able to make a will, nor returning to their homes. 50
