And a sign to them is the dead earth: We give life to it and bring forth from it grain so they eat of it. 33 We have placed in it gardens of date palms and vines, and caused springs to gush [forth] from it, 34 so that they may eat its fruit, though it was not their hands that made this. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 A sign for them is the night. From it We withdraw the day and they are in darkness. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 how We ordained the moon to pass through certain phases until it seems eventually to be like a bent twig; 39 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws]. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 And We have created for them the like of it in which they board. 42 And if We list, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout for them, nor will they be saved. 43 Unless by mercy from Us and as comfort for a while. 44 And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. 45 Never does any Sign of their Lord come to them, but they turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them, 'Expend of that God has provided you,' the unbelievers say to the believers, 'What, shall we feed such a one whom, if God willed, He would feed? You are only in manifest error!' 47 They also say, 'When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak truly?' 48 They will not (have to) wait for aught but a single Blast: it will seize them while they are yet disputing among themselves! 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
