In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who stand arrayed in rows, 1 And by oath of those who herd with a stern warning. 2 and those who recite the Remembrance 3 your God is One, 4 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, and Lord of the easts. 5 We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,- 6 And have placed therein a guard against any satan froward. 7 so they cannot listen to the High Assembly, for they are pelted from every side. 8 To make them flee, and for them is a never-ending punishment. 9 Except one who sometimes steals a part, so a blazing flame goes after him. 10 So ask them, are they stronger in constitution, or those whom We have created. We have created them of sticky clay. 11 Nay, but whereas thou dost marvel, they [only] scoff; 12 And heed not when they are reminded, 13 and when they become aware of a [divine] message, they turn it to ridicule 14 and they say, 'This is nothing but manifest sorcery. 15 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, how can we be raised again, 16 What, and our forefathers, the ancients' 17 Say, "Yes indeed, and you will be brought low." 18 It shall be but one shout, lo! they shall be staring. 19 And they shall say: O woe to us! this is the day of requital. 20 [They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." 21

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
