The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). 1 And those who restrain by reprimanding, 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Most surely your Allah is One: 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, and Lord of the easts. 5 Verily We! We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment: the stars. 6 And to guard against every rebellious devil. 7 They cannot listen to the exalted assembly, and they are darted at from every side. 8 and driven away to suffer the necessary torment. 9 Except those who eavesdrop and are pursued by a shooting flame. 10 Then ask them whether they are stronger in creation or those (others) whom We have created. Surely We created them of firm clay. 11 Rather you are surprised, whereas they keep mocking. 12 And when they are admonished, they receive not admonition. 13 and when they see a miracle, they mock 14 and say: "This is clearly nothing but [a mortal's] spellbinding eloquence! 15 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 16 Or our fathers of yore? 17 Say: "Yea, indeed - and most abject will you then be!" 18 There is but one Shout, and lo! they behold, 19 And say: Ah, woe for us! This is the Day of Judgment. 20 'This is the Day of Decision, even that you cried lies to. 21
