۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 “You surely have to taste the painful punishment.” 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Surely this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
