۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 Are we not then to die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
