۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 We led you astray as we were ourselves astray." 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits; and they will be honored 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 What then, shall we not die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
