۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
