۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
