۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
