۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 [To which] the others will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were bereft of all faith! 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 And he will reply: 'Are you looking down (into Hell)' 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of it they will have a brew of boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
