۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 On couches, facing one another. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
