۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 for when it was said to them, 'There is no god but God,' they were ever waxing proud, 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them will start the talk and say: "I had an intimate companion (on the earth), 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
