۞ But We shall say, "Assemble those who did wrong together with their associates and what they worshipped 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
