۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Are we then not to die 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 and behold, how was the end of them that were warned, 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
