۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 When they were told, "There is no deity but God," they turned away with disdain, 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Are we then not to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
