۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Wherein there is no headache nor are they made mad thereby. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 What, do we then not die 58 "Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?" 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows from the bottom of Hell; 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
