And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). 75 We saved him and his people from great distress, 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 We perpetuated his praise in later generations. 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the peoples! 79 That is how We reward those who do good. 80 Surely he was of Our believing servants. 81 Thereafter We caused the others to be drowned. 82 ۞ Of his party was Abraham. 83 When he came to his Lord with a sound heart 84 and said to his father and his people: “Whom do you worship? 85 Is it false deities that you want to serve rather than Allah? 86 What think you then of the Lord of all Being?' 87 The people invited him to attend their feast). Then he looked at the stars 88 Then he said: Surely I am sick (of your worshipping these). 89 But they turned their backs and went away from him. 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said, 'What do you eat? 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 And he turned upon them striking them with the right hand. 93 Then they advanced toward him, hastening. 94 He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve, 95 "But Allah has created you and your handwork!" 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 So they tried to execute their evil scheme upon him We therefore degraded them. (Allah saved him, by commanding the fire to turn cool). 98 He said: 'I will go to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 "O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!" 100 So We gave him tidings of a gentle son. 101 And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)." 102 But as soon as the two had surrendered themselves to [what they thought to be] the will of God, and [Abraham] had laid him down on his face, 103 And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! 104 thou hast already fulfilled [the purpose of] that dream-vision!" Thus, verily, do We reward the doers of good: 105 Indeed this was a clear test. 106 And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: 107 And We kept his praise among the latter generations. 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 110 He was one of Our believing worshipers. 111 And We gave him the good news of Isaac, a Prophet and among the righteous ones. 112 and We blessed him and Isaac: but among the offspring of these two there were [destined] to be both doers of good and such as would glaringly sin against themselves. 113
