Noah called to Us; and how excellent were the Answerers! 75 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations to come in later times: 78 Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" 79 As such We recompense the gooddoers, 80 Verily he was of Our bondmen believing. 81 Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. 82 ۞ And lo! of his persuasion verily was Abraham 83 Recall what time he came unto his Lord with a heart whole. 84 and when he said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship? 85 "Is it a falsehood aliha (gods) other than Allah that you seek? 86 What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds? 87 He looked up at the stars. 88 and said: 'Surely, I am sick (of what you worship)' 89 All the people turned away from him 90 Thereupon he approached their gods stealthily and said, "What! You do not eat [of the offerings placed before you]? 91 "What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?" 92 He then began striking them with his right hand, unseen by the people. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 And Allah has created you and what you make. 96 They exclaimed: "Build a pyre for him, and cast him into the blazing fire!" 97 So they contrived a plot against him, but We made them abject. 98 And he said: Lo! I am going unto my Lord Who will guide me. 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son.” 100 Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle. 101 When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." 102 When they had surrendered, and he flung him upon his brow, 103 We called to him, "Abraham, 104 You have fulfilled your dream." Thus do We reward the good. 105 That was indeed a trying test. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and We let it (the beautiful praise) remain upon him in the latter (generations), 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 110 Verily he was one of Our believing bondmen. 111 We gave Abraham the good news of Isaac, a prophet and a righteous man, 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves. 113
