Hizb 46
< random >
So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 Glory be to Allah (for freedom) from what they describe; 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Save him who is to burn in hell. 163 [All forces of nature praise God and say:] "Among us, too, there is none but has a place assigned to it [by Him]; 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 They used to say: 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That they would be helped, 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And peace be upon all His message-bearers! 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.
