Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 So he shared (with them), but was of those who are cast off. 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 And were he not one of those who praise. 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 Then We sent him unto a hundred thousand, or more, 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 “Or do you have some clear proof?” 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 can lure away from God any 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 And there were those who said, 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 We would have been the chosen servants of Allah." 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from them, 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Purity is to your Lord, the Lord of Honour, from all what they say. 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
Almighty Allah's Truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
