S (Saad)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 No, the unbelievers exalt in their division. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed. 6 We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 To the truth gave the lie aforetime Noah's people, and [the tribe of] Ad, and Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 not one, that cried not lies to the Messengers, so My retribution was just. 14
