These (today) only wait for a single mighty Blast, which (when it comes) will brook no delay. 15 And they say: O our Lord! hasten on to us our portion before the day of reckoning. 16 Be patient (O Muhammad SAW) of what they say, and remember Our slave Dawud (David), endued with power. Verily, he was ever oft-returning in all matters and in repentance (toward Allah). 17 Verily We so subjected the mountains that they should hallow Us with him at nightfall and sunrise. 18 And the birds also, gathering all oft-returning onto Him on his account. 19 We strengthened his kingdom, and gave him wisdom and sound judgment in speech and decision. 20 ۞ And has there come to you the news of the adversaries, when they climbed over the wall of [his] prayer chamber - 21 When they came before David, he was frightened of them. "Do not be afraid," they said. "The two of us are disputing the wrong one has done the other. So judge between us with equity, and do not be unjust, and guide us to the right path. 22 This man here is my brother. He has ninety and nine ewes while I have only one. He demands that I should give him my ewe, and wants to get the better of me in argument." 23 He said: Surely he has been unjust to you in demanding your ewe (to add) to his own ewes; and most surely most of the partners act wrongfully towards one another, save those who believe and do good, and very few are they; and Dawood was sure that We had tried him, so he sought the protection of his Lord and he fell down bowing and turned time after time (to Him). ۩ 24 We forgave him for this. In Our eyes he certainly has a good position and the best share (of the world to come). 25 We said, "David, We have given you mastery over the land. Judge fairly between people. Do not follow your desires, lest they divert you from God's path: those who wander from His path will have a severe punishment, because they ignore the Day of Reckoning." 26
