AND [thus it is:] We have not created heaven and earth and all that is between them without meaning and purpose, as is the surmise of those who are bent on denying the truth: but then, woe from the fire [of hell] unto all who are bent on denying the truth! 27 Shall We then treat alike those that believe and act righteously and those that create mischief on earth? Or treat alike the God-fearing and the wicked? 28 [This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded. 29 And to David We gave Solomon. An excellent servant, indeed he was one repeatedly turning back [to Allah]. 30 When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him, 31 Therefore Sulaiman said, “I cherish the love of these horses*, out of remembrance of my Lord”; he then ordered them to be raced until they vanished in a curtain out of sight. (To be used in holy war.) 32 He then ordered, “Bring them back to me”; and he began caressing their shins and necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower." 35 We therefore gave the wind under his control, moving steadily by his command wherever he wished. 36 And We subjected to him the evil ones: every builder and diver. 37 And other demons bound in chains. 38 'This is Our gift, give or withhold without reckoning' 39 And most surely he had a nearness to Us and an excellent resort. 40
