We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without purpose, even though this is the belief of the disbelievers. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of fire 27 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 To David We gave Solomon (for a son),- How excellent in Our service! Ever did he turn (to Us)! 30 [and even] when, towards the close of day, nobly-bred, swift-footed steeds were brought before him, 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 "Bring them back unto me!" - and would [lovingly] stroke their legs and their necks. 33 And We did try Solomon: We placed on his throne a body (without life); but he did turn (to Us in true devotion): 34 He said: My Lord! do Thou forgive me and grant me a kingdom which is not fit for (being inherited by) anyone after me; 35 So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed, 36 and the Satans, every builder and diver 37 And others bound together in shackles. 38 [And We told him:] "This is Our gift, for thee to bestow freely on others, or to withhold, without [having to render] account!" 39 And verily, nearness to Us awaits him [in the life to come,] and the most beauteous of all goals! 40
