And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? 28 We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect. 29 We gave David Solomon. He was an excellent servant who always turned to God. 30 [and even] when, towards the close of day, nobly-bred, swift-footed steeds were brought before him, 31 He said: verily I have loved the love of earthly good above the remembrance of my Lord until the sun hath disappeared behind the veil. 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 And We did try Solomon: We placed on his throne a body (without life); but he did turn (to Us in true devotion): 34 He said: 'Forgive me my Lord, and give me a kingdom the like of which will not befall any after me, surely, You are the Giver' 35 So we subjugated the wind to his service which carried his merchandise wheresoever he wished; 36 And also the Shayatin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver, 37 And others linked together in chains, 38 This is Our free gift, therefore give freely or withhold, without reckoning. 39 And verily, he enjoyed a near access to Us, and a good final return (Paradise). 40
