And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire. 27 Shall We treat those who believe and do good works as those who spread corruption in the earth; or shall We treat the pious as the wicked? 28 A Book We have sent down to thee, Blessed, that men possessed of minds may ponder its signs and so remember. 29 And We gave unto David Solomon; how excellent a servant he was! He was a penitent. 30 When well-bred horses, which were fleet of foot were paraded before him near the close of day, 31 And he said, "Indeed, I gave preference to the love of good [things] over the remembrance of my Lord until the sun disappeared into the curtain [of darkness]." 32 Return them to me!' And he began to stroke their shanks and necks. 33 And, indeed We did try Sulaiman (Solomon) and We placed on his throne Jasadan (a devil, so he lost his kingdom for a while) but he did return (to his throne and kingdom by the Grace of Allah and he did return) to Allah with obedience and in repentance. 34 he prayed: "O my Sustainer! Forgive me my sins, and bestow upon me the gift of a kingdom which may not suit anyone after me: verily, Thou alone art a giver of gifts!" 35 So We subjected the wind to him, so that it ran softly by his command wherever he wished; 36 And made the demons subservient to him, all builders and divers. 37 And others linked together in chains, 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
