We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without purpose, even though this is the belief of the disbelievers. Woe to the disbelievers; they will suffer the torment of fire 27 shall We treat those who believe and do good works the same as those who spread corruption in the land; shall We treat the pious the same as the wicked? 28 This is a Book We have sent down unto thee, blest, that they may ponder the revelations thereof, and that there may be admonished men of understanding. 29 We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence. 30 And when one evening well-trained and running horses of noble breed were brought to him 31 he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared, 32 (he ordered): “Bring these horses back to me,” and then he began to gently stroke their shanks and necks. 33 We tested Solomon by (causing death to his son) and leaving his body on Solomon's chair. Then he turned to Us in repentance, 34 He said, "O my Lord! Forgive me, and grant me a kingdom which, (it may be), suits not another after me: for Thou art the Grantor of Bounties (without measure). 35 So We subjected to him the wind, that ran at his commandment, softly, wherever he might light on, 36 and the satans, every builder and diver 37 As also others bound together in fetters. 38 "This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning." 39 He has a high position with Us and an excellent abode. 40
