We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 It is a Blessed Book that We have sent down to you (Prophet Muhammad), so that those possessed with minds might ponder its verses and remember. 29 We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence. 30 When fast footed steeds were presented to him at evening. 31 he said, "My love of horses for the cause of God has made me continue watching them until sunset, thus making me miss my prayer". 32 "Bring them back to me!" -- [he said] and began to stroke their legs and their necks. 33 And We certainly tried Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned. 34 He said: “My Lord, forgive me and bestow upon me a kingdom such as none other after me will deserve. Surely You are the Bounteous Giver.” 35 Then We made the wind subservient to him; it made his command to run gently wherever he desired, 36 as well as all the rebellious forces [that We made to work for him] - every kind of builder and diver 37 and others joined together by (iron) fetters. 38 This is Our free gift, therefore give freely or withhold, without reckoning. 39 And lo! he hath favour with Us, and a happy journey's end. 40
