We have not created the heavens and earth, and what between them is, for vanity; such is the thought of the unbelievers, wherefore woe unto the unbelievers because of the Fire! 27 Should We equate those who do the right with those who spread corruption in the land? Should We make those who are morally integrated equal to those who seek disintegration? 28 [All this have We expounded in this] blessed divine writ which We have revealed unto thee, [O Muhammad,] so that men may ponder over its messages, and that those who are endowed with insight may take them to heart. 29 And to Dawud (David) We gave Sulaiman (Solomon). How excellent (a) slave! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Us)! 30 When fast footed steeds were presented to him at evening. 31 he said: 'Indeed I have loved the love of good things better than the remembrance of my Lord until the sun has vanished behind a veil. 32 Bring them back unto me; and he set about slashing their legs and necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 He said: "My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower." 35 Then We subjected the wind to his power, so that it blew gently, at his behest, wherever he willed, 36 And also the Shayatin (devils) from the jinns (including) every kind of builder and diver, 37 And also others bound in fetters. 38 [We said], "This is Our gift, so grant or withhold without account." 39 And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return. 40
