And make mention (O Muhammad) of Our bondman Job, when he cried unto his Lord (saying): Lo! the devil doth afflict me with distress and torment. 41 (We answered his prayer, healed his sickness, and told him), "Run on your feet. This is cool water (for you) to wash and drink". 42 And We granted to him his family and also the like of them, as a mercy from Us, and as a reminder to people of understanding, 43 [And finally We told him:] "Now take in thy hand a small bunch of grass, and strike therewith, and thou wilt not break thine oath!" for, verily, We found him full of patience in adversity: how excellent a servant [of Ours,] who, behold, would always turn unto Us! 44 And remember Our slaves, Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaque (Isaac), and Ya'qub (Jacob), (all) owners of strength (in worshipping Us) and (also) of religious understanding. 45 We chose them for a special [purpose] -- proclaiming the message of the Hereafter: 46 And verily they are with us of the elect of the excellent ones. 47 Remember also Our servants Ishmael, Elisha, and Dhul Kifl; each is among the excellent. 48 This is a commemoration. Surely for those who take heed for themselves is an excellent place of return -- 49 They will enter gardens of Eden with their gates open for them. 50 They will be comfortably seated; reclining, they will call for abundant fruit and drink; 51 ۞ With companions of modest look, the same in age, by their side. 52 This is what you, [the righteous], are promised for the Day of Account. 53 Indeed, this is Our provision; for it there is no depletion. 54 This (is for the righteous). And lo! for the transgressors there with be an evil journey's end, 55 Hell, where they will be roasted. An evil place to dwell! 56 This - let them taste it: scalding water and corruption. 57 And other similar torments. 58 Here is an army rushing blindly with you. (Those who are already in the Fire say): No word of welcome for them. Lo! they will roast at the Fire. 59 They will say, "Nor you! No welcome for you. You, [our leaders], brought this upon us, and wretched is the settlement." 60 [And] they will pray: "O our Sustainer! Whoever has prepared this for us, double Thou his suffering in the fire!" 61 But why is it that we cannot see men whom we had considered as wicked 62 Is it [because] we took them in ridicule, or has [our] vision turned away from them?" 63 Lo! that is very truth: the wrangling of the dwellers in the Fire. 64
