And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 (Allah said to him): "Strike the ground with your foot: This is a spring of water to wash in, cool and a (refreshing) drink." 42 And We bestowed on him his household and along with them the like thereof, out of mercy from us, and a remembrance unto men of understanding. 43 [And finally We told him:] "Now take in thy hand a small bunch of grass, and strike therewith, and thou wilt not break thine oath!" for, verily, We found him full of patience in adversity: how excellent a servant [of Ours,] who, behold, would always turn unto Us! 44 And remember Our servants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - those of strength and [religious] vision. 45 Verily We exalted them in consideration of a sterling quality: their remembrance of the Abode of the Hereafter. 46 and, in Our sight they were indeed among the select, the truly good! 47 And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. Every one of them is among the best. 48 This is a Remembrance; and for the godfearing is a fair resort, 49 Gardens of perpetual residence, whose doors will be opened to them. 50 They will be resting therein and will be able to ask for many kinds of fruit and drink. 51 ۞ And with them will be virgins of refraining looks and of equal age. 52 All this is what you are promised for the Day of Judgement. 53 this is Our unending provision' 54 All this [for the righteous]: but, verily, the most evil of all goals awaits those who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right: 55 Hell, where they will be roasted. An evil place to dwell! 56 This is for the criminals – so that they may taste it – boiling hot water and pus. 57 And other similar torments. 58 This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 (The followers shall cry to the misleaders:) "Nay, ye (too)! No welcome for you! It is ye who have brought this upon us! Now evil is (this) place to stay in!" 60 They will say: "O Lord, give him who has brought this upon us two times more the torment of Hell;" 61 And they say, “What is the matter with us that we do not see the men whom we thought were evil?” 62 and whom we mocked? Have they been rescued or can our eyes not find them?" 63 Indeed, that is truth - the quarreling of the people of the Fire. 64
