And a believing man of Fir'awn's household, hiding his belief, said: would ye slay a man because he saith: my Lord is God, and hath come upto you with evidences from your Lord? If he is a liar, then upon him will be his lie, and if he is a truth-teller, then there will befall you some of that wherewith he threateneth you; verily God guideth not one who is an extravagant and a liar. 28 O my people, authority is yours today being the most powerful in the land; but who will save us from the scourge of God if it fall upon us?" "I show you," said the Pharaoh, "only what I see (is right), and guide you but to the right path." 29 But the man of belief said: "O my people, what I fear for you is the like of what befell the communities (of old). 30 the like of what happened to Noah's people, and to [the tribes of] Ad and Thamud and those who came after them! And withal, God does not will any wrong for His creatures. 31 And, O my people! verily fear for you a Day of Mutual Calling. 32 The day on which you will turn back retreating; there shall be no savior for you from Allah, and whomsoever Allah causes to err, there is no guide for him: 33 And indeed Yusuf (Joseph) did come to you, in times gone by, with clear signs, but you ceased not to doubt in that which he did bring to you, till when he died you said: "No Messenger will Allah send after him." Thus Allah leaves astray him who is a Musrif (a polytheist, oppressor, a criminal, sinner who commit great sins) and a Murtab (one who doubts Allah's Warning and His Oneness). 34 Those who wrangle concerning the signs of Allah without any authority that hath come unto them. It is greatly abhorrent unto Allah and unto those who believe. Thus Allah sealeth up the heart of any stiff-necked, high-handed, person. 35 But Pharaoh said: "O Haman! Build me a lofty tower, that haply I may attain to the [right] means 36 the highways to the heavens -- and have a look at the God of Moses, although I am certain that Moses is a liar.” Thus Pharaoh's evil deed was made to seem fair to him, and he was barred from the Right Path. Pharaoh's guile only led him to his own perdition. 37
