ART THOU NOT aware of how far they who call God's messages in question have lost sight of the truth? 69 Those who reject the Book and the (revelations) with which We sent our messengers: but soon shall they know,- 70 When the shackles are around their necks and the chains; they will be dragged 71 and are dragged into burning despair, and in the end become fuel for the fire [of hell]. 72 Then shall it be said to them: Where is that which you used to set up 73 Beside Allah? They will say: they have failed us; aye! we have not been calling upon aught afore. Thus doth Allah lead the infidels astray. 74 this is an outcome of your having arrogantly exulted on earth without any [concern for what is] right, and of your having been so full of self-conceit! 75 “Enter the gates of hell, to remain in it forever”; so what a wretched destination for the haughty! 76 Wherefore persevere thou; verily the promise of Allah is true; then whether We let thee see a part of that wherewith We have promised them, or whether We cause thee to die, unto Us they all will be caused to return. 77 Before your time We sent other messengers: of them there are some whose story We have related to you, and some whose story We have not related to you. It was not [possible] for any messenger to bring a sign except by the leave of God: but when the command of God was issued, the matter was decided in truth and justice. There and then, those who stood on falsehoods perished. 78
