Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha Mim: 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 And they say: Our hearts are under coverings from that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and a veil hangs between us and you, so work, we too are working. 5 Say (Prophet Muhammad): 'I am only a human like you, to whom it is revealed that your God is One God. Therefore be straight with Him and ask Him to forgive you. Woe to the idolaters, 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 [But,] verily, they who have attained to faith and do good works shall have a reward unending! 8
