Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 This is a revelation from the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, 2 A Book whose verses have been distinguished and explained, a lucid discourse for people who understand, 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say (Prophet Muhammad): 'I am only a human like you, to whom it is revealed that your God is One God. Therefore be straight with Him and ask Him to forgive you. Woe to the idolaters, 6 who pay not the alms, and disbelieve in the world to come. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
