Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 A revelation from Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. 2 a Book whose verses have been well-expounded; an Arabic Qur'an for those who have knowledge, 3 Announcing happy news and warnings. And yet most of them are averse and do not listen, 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted. 8
