Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Ha. Mim. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 A Book the verses of which are explained in detail, the Qur’an in Arabic for people of intellect. 3 proclaiming good news and a warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not listen. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 who pay not the alms, and disbelieve in the world to come. 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
