Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And of His Signs are the ships that sail in the sea like mountains. 32 if He will, He calms the wind so that they remain motionless upon its back, surely, there are signs in this for every thankful, patient (person). 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 and that those who dispute concerning Our signs may know they have no asylum. 35 Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 And those who defend themselves when they are wronged. 39 The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong. 40 And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame). 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
