Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And of His portents are the ships, like banners on the sea; 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 or else He may cause them to perish because of what they have wrought; and [withal,] He pardons much. 34 And those who dispute in respect of Our revelations may know that for them there is no place of shelter. 35 AND [remember that] whatever you are given [now] is but for the [passing] enjoyment of life in this world - whereas that which is with God is far better and more enduring. [It shall be given] to all who attain to faith and in their Sustainer place their trust; 36 And those who shun the great sins and indecencies, and whenever they are angry they forgive. 37 And those who answer the Call of their Lord [i.e. to believe that He is the only One Lord (Allah), and to worship none but Him Alone], and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them; 38 and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. 39 And the recompense of evil is punishment like it, but whoever forgives and amends, he shall have his reward from Allah; surely He does not love the unjust. 40 If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. 43
