Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And of His signs are the ships that run on the sea like landmarks; 32 If He wills, He causes the wind to cease, then they would become motionless on the back (of the sea). Verily, in this are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 Whatever you have received is only for usage in the life of this world, and that which is with Allah is much better and more lasting – for those who believe and rely upon their Lord. 36 And those who avoid the greater sins, and Al-Fawahish (illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and when they are angry, they forgive 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 and who, whenever tyranny afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs. 43
