Whatever hardship befalls you is the result of your own deeds. God pardons many of your sins. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 And of His Signs are the ships that sail in the sea like mountains. 32 and if He wills, He stills the wind, and they remain motionless on its back. Surely in that are signs for every man enduring, thankful. 33 Or, He wrecks them for what they have earned, but He pardons a lot. 34 But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape. 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive; 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 And those who, when great wrong is done to them, defend themselves, 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. 42 But he who bears with patience and forgives, surely complies with divine resolve. 43
