Whatever misfortune befalls you is of your own doing, God forgives much, 30 And you cannot escape in the earth; and you have neither a friend nor any supporter against Allah. 31 And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like hills. 32 If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 He may, while forgiving much of the sins of those that ride these ships, drown them on account of some of their misdeeds. 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 So whatsoever things are vouchsafed unto you are but a passing enjoyment for the life of the world, and that which is with Allah, better and more lasting, is for those who believe and in their Lord put their trust. 36 (This reward will be for) those who keep away from major sins and indecency, who forgive when they are made angry, 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, 38 and who, whenever tyranny afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs. 43
