Whatever of misfortune striketh you, it is what your right hands have earned. And He forgiveth much. 30 You cannot challenge God on earth and you will have no one besides Him as your guardian or helper. 31 Among His signs are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea: 32 if He willed, He could bring the wind to a standstill and they would lie motionless on the surface of the sea, truly there are signs in this for anyone who is steadfast and grateful, 33 Or He wrecks them for what they have earned; and He pardons much; 34 And let them know, those who call Our messages in question, that for them there is no escape. 35 Whatsoever you have been given is only this life's merchandise; but what is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and place their trust in their Lord, 36 and who shun the more heinous sins and abominations; and who, whenever they are moved to anger, readily forgive; 37 and who respond to [the call of] their Sustainer and are constant in prayer; and whose rule [in all matters of common concern] is consultation among themselves; and who spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 38 And those who defend themselves when they are wronged. 39 The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 blame attaches but to those who oppress [other] people and behave outrageously on earth, offending against all right: for them there is grievous suffering in store! 42 whoever is patient and forgiving, acts with great courage and resolution. 43
