Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha'. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 [O YOU who deny the truth!] Should We, perchance, withdraw this reminder from you altogether, seeing that you are people bent on wasting your own selves? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And He Who created pairs of all things, and made for you of the ships and the cattle what you ride on, 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
