Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 (Yea, the same that) has made for you the earth (like a carpet) spread out, and has made for you roads (and channels) therein, in order that ye may find guidance (on the way); 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 And Who hath treated the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you from ships and cattle things whereon ye ride. 12 in order that you might gain mastery over them, and that, whenever you have mastered them, you might remember your Sustainer's blessings and say: "Limitless in His glory is He who has made [all] this subservient to our use - since [but for Him,] we would not have been able to attain to it. 13 And lo! unto our Lord we surely are returning. 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
