Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HA MIM. 1 By the Clear Book 2 behold, We have made it an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand; 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 so We destroyed those who were mightier in courage than they. And the example of the ancients has passed away. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
