Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 And if thou askest them: who hath created the heavens and the earth? they will surely say: created them the Mighty, the Knower. 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
