Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 And He Who created pairs of all things, and made for you of the ships and the cattle what you ride on, 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 It is to our Lord that we shall eventually return.” 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
