Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HaMeem. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 And how many a Prophet have We sent amongst the men of old. 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 He Who created these pairs, all of them, and provided you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 That ye mount firmly on the backs thereof, and then may remember the favour of your Lord when ye mount thereon, and may say: hallowed be He Who hath subjected this unto us, and we for it were not fit. 13 indeed, to our Lord we are turning' 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
